For Youth: Apply to MIC
Muslim youth in the GTA can apply each year for a spot in the upcoming cohort. The application process is a short online form; applicants and families are asked directly whether the modest program fee is affordable, so cost is never a barrier to a genuine applicant.
For the Muslim Community
Mosques, Islamic schools, and community organizations are invited to help spread the word about MIC, host information sessions, or refer youth who would benefit from the program. MIC also shares Indigenous-education resources (readings, terminology guides, and short videos) that community members can use on their own.
For Volunteers
MIC runs on a volunteer team covering program facilitation, curriculum development, youth mentorship, event logistics, community outreach, social media, and grant writing. Typical commitment is 2-3 hours a week, rising to about 5 hours a week during the fall cohort season; some roles (like grant writing) ask for a minimum 6-month commitment.
Sample recruitment messaging already tested by MIC (available to reuse or adapt for the site):
- “Find your place. Are you an organizer, a storyteller, a grant writer, or a connector? Every movement needs a diverse team.”
- “Go beyond the classroom. Visit Indigenous reserves and former residential schools, and learn from Elders and Muslim leaders.”
- “Make history. Don’t just spend your fall studying – learn from Elders, visit communities, and make real impact.”
For Alumni
Graduates from the past two cohorts can join MICAN, the MIC Alumni Network, launched in 2026 – offering continued growth opportunities (conferences, fellowships), mentorship (both receiving and giving), community gatherings, leadership roles within MIC, and small grants to extend or launch new youth-led projects.
For Partners & Funders
Community organizations, mosques, Indigenous organizations, and funders can partner with MIC through event sponsorship, in-kind support, co-hosting sessions, or multi-year program funding as MIC scales. Recent partners have included Human Concern International, Danforth Islamic Centre, One Love Family Services, and Muslim Media Hub.
